What is Vaniqa?
Vaniqa is a cream that is applied to the skin in order to reduce
unwanted facial hair in women. The active ingredient in Vaniqa is
eflornithine hydrochloride. Vaniqa comes in 30 and 60 gram tubes.
Vaniqa can be stored at room temperature.
Vaniqa’s active ingredient (eflornithine hydrochloride) interferes
with an enzyme found in hair follicles. This enzyme is necessary
for hair growth and metabolism. Hair growth slows down, improving
the appearance of the area where Vaniqa cream is used.

How
should Vaniqa be used?
Vaniqa cream should be applied two times a day at least 8 hours
apart. Apply a thin layer of Vaniqa to the desired areas of the
face and adjacent areas under the chin and rub in thoroughly. Do
not wash the treated areas for at least 4 hours after a Vaniqa application.

When will I see results with Vaniqa?
Improvement in the condition of unwanted facial hair growth will
occur gradually with the aid of Vaniqa. Women using Vaniqa should
not be discouraged without immediate improvement in unwanted facial
hair removal. Changes to facial hair may be seen as early as 4 to
8 weeks. Note that improvement may take longer with some individuals.
If no improvement is seen after using Vaniqa for 6 months, discontinue
treatment.

effective is Vaniqa for unwanted facial hair removal?
Vaniqa usage studies showed improvement in unwanted facial hair
was seen in about 60% of patients after 24 weeks of Vaniqa use.
Overall, Vaniqa statistically significantly reduced the amount of
patients bothered by their unwanted facial hair and time spent removing,
treating, or concealing facial hair.

Vaniqa cream a cure for unwanted facial hair?
No, Vaniqa is not a permanent treatment for facial hair removal
or a cure for unwanted facial hair. It should not be confused with
a depilatory cream. Continue any hair removal techniques. However,
Vaniqa will help manage your condition and improve appearance by
diminishing the amount of unwanted facial hair you have.

What
happens when I stop using Vaniqa?
Studies show that about 8 weeks after stopping hair removal therapy
with Vaniqa, hair growth will restart at about the same rate as
before starting this medicine.

side effects
Vaniqa may cause these temporary side effects at the site of application:
• redness
• rash
• itching
• burning or tingling
If symptoms are brief, continue Vaniqa treatment. If symptoms persist,
stop using Vaniqa cream.

Who
should use Vaniqa WITH EXTREME CAUTION?
• If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Vaniqa.
• If you are under 12 years of age, Vaniqa should not be used
at any time.
• If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. To date,
there are no studies that have been performed on the safety of this
medicine in pregnant women.
• If you are breast-feeding.
