How do I use Flonase? Contact your pharmacist or doctor with all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Follow the directions for using Flonase provided by your doctor. Flonase may come with an instruction leaflet. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about Flonase. Shake gently before using a dose. For best results continue Flonase for the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Do not miss any doses. Store Flonase at room temperature, away from heat and light. If you miss a Flonase dose, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. If your allergy symptoms have not improved with regular use of this medicine, contact your doctor. Always have an extra inhaler available in case the unit malfunctions or is empty. Do NOT share Flonase with others for whom it was not prescribed. Do NOT use Flonase for other health conditions. Keep Flonase out of the reach of children. If using Flonase for an extended time, obtain Flonase refills before your supply runs out. (top) Flonase Precautions Do NOT exceed the recommended Flonase dose or use Flonase for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor. Your allergy symptoms should improve within a few days, however it may take up to 3 weeks for this medicine to reach its full effect. Do NOT use Flonase for future nasal problems without checking with your doctor. Avoid getting Flonase in your eyes. If you have NOT had CHICKENPOX or MEASLES, avoid contact with anyone who has any of these diseases. Flonase may affect growth rate in children. Your child's growth should be checked regularly while using Flonase. For women: If you anticipate becoming pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Flonase during pregnancy. It is NOT known if Flonase is excreted in breast milk. If you are breast-feeding while you are using Flonase, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby. (top) Possible Flonase Side Effects Flonase side effects that may go away during treatment, include sneezing, stuffy nose, or an unpleasant taste or smell. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. Contact your doctor AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience nosebleeds or nose or throat pain. IF YOU EXPERIENCE difficulty breathing; tightness of chest; swelling of eyelids, face, or lips, or if you develop a rash or hives, notify your doctor immediately. Do not take any more doses of Flonase unless your doctor tells you to do so. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. (top) Flonase Drug Interactions Drug interactions can result in unwanted side effects or prevent a medicine from doing its job. Use a drug interaction checker to find out if your medicines interact with each other.
